Sometimes its best to...
Sometimes you see the writing on the wall. And that’s ok. Its how you react to the writing that makes a difference. Today was a hard day for radsport. We lost a rider we  loved like a child. He had a lot of promise and a lot of good qualities. He left us for a rival team - one that offers more than we could ever. And that’s ok. Cycling is an expensive sport that requires riders to do...

Mid Season Form
Its been ~80 degrees here in Boston lately. AND ITS MARCH!!!!! How sweet is that? In the past five days, I’ve been able to pop about 250 miles of road riding which is great.  My arms and legs have turned a golden brown. The legs are smooth. My form feels right and I think I’m killing myself out there at the right level.  Today was nice as I was able to meet another rider, have a nice...

Don’t ask, “What do you think of my bloomers?”
This is the most amazing thing I’ve read in a while. A list of don’ts for lady cyclists circa 1895.
Mar 21st
I’ve been mighty busy lately as I have recently taken on a new position at the school I work at. No excuse for not writing so I figured writing on my phone during my prep times was a smart idea. Saturday, March 17; a rough morning. Cycling was not an option. Sunday, March 18; met with two friends and decided to do a quick ride. 111 miles and 7 hours later I returned. It was quite the day as it...

Shops
Growing up, my first road bike that was all my own was a 1999 Cannondale CAAD 4 - the Team Saeco design. So, every now and then, I spend some time on the Cannondale site to see what they have as I have always found them to be attractive bikes with a nice website. While on there, I found a “rider profile” page, and attached to that I found a “featured shop” image. And I...

Hi-Viz
Not going to lie, this is a pretty sweet jersey from way back in the day. This is Euro-fluorescent before that craze took over cycling the past few seasons. In thinking about cyclocross in this area, I might have my good friend Sean just try a hi-viz version of our kit. Just to see how it would look - it would sure turn heads!

The Day After
Yesterday: 55 degrees, raced at Wells Ave, felt crushed on the subsequent ride with friends. Put in about 70 miles with a good chunk of those at 150%  Today: 70 degrees, “worked” outside all day with kids, then got home at 3:30 p.m. and decided to do 24 miles at a recovery pace, then I changed it to 40, then 50….and finally settled on 60.  They say you should recover the day...

Wells Ave #1 - 2012
As I said, road racing is what got me into cycling but as I’ve grown older it lost interest for me. However, I do have my competitive side. It’s always there, lingering. I like to push myself pretty hard and I like to challenge others. Today was no different as it was the first race at Wells Ave for the 2012 season.  Because its so early in the season, I wanted to get out there and...

WatchWatch
Sean’s racing in the first Wells Ave Training Crit tomorrow.  I’m sure he’s planning on using these races more as training for ‘cross than training for road, but even so, here’s to his luck and success! One of these days I’ll get out there to watch, cheer everyone on, and take some pics to post.

Giant
Finally! We made it down to the shop and got to talk to Seth, who is the main guy in charge of making the like of Giant to radsport. While we are still waiting on our paperwork, we are all but ready to get rolling with bikes. I’m really excited.  The best part about all this is that radsport doesn’t have to do anything it doesn’t want to. We are being supplied with a designer...

Kits
While I am the “godfather” of radsport cyclocross, I also happen to race road too. Amazing, right?! I’m not very good unless we are going uphill and I tend to have a fear of crashing due to some wrecks I’ve taken in the past. Regardless, I like going fast, attacking, and hearing the hum of the tires as they meet asphalt.  Tonight, I am heading over to the...

BIKES AND BURRITOS
radsport has a new sponsor - El Pelón Taquería!!! Sean and I went last night to talk ‘cross over deeeelicious burritos and quesadillas and we are pumped about this partnership. And no, not just because the food is damn good, but because the people behind El Pelon seem like our kind of people - fun, friendly, and straight-to-the-point. I know, you’re tweaking just thinking about...

Intensity
By all accounts, I am a nice guy. Schools let me teach kids, fathers let me date their daughters, and ex-girlfriends that should hate me don’t always do. Part of this might come from my ability to be a wonderful bullshitter. The other is that I look fairly innocent; harmless, you may say. Put me on a road bike, and we’ll chat about women, sports, feats of strength on the bike. We’ll share laughs...

I’m running with SRAM next year. Check out the bloopers from 2010. The Jeremy Powers “SRAM in the morning” comment was my favorite.

Rules
“This is not ‘Nam…There are rules.” - The Big Lebowski Indeed, there are rules in cycling - even in cyclocross! This weekend, I had a friend stay a few nights that I have not seen in a few years. She asked me why I shave my legs and could only reply with; “its in the rules.” Well, yes, there are cycling rules and I suppose there are cyclocross rules. But what about our team? As a...
