A little update on my incoming Burnside Forge 650B mtb…it’s done! Well, the frame is! Heading down to NY on Saturday to build it, then racin it on Sunday at Singlespeedapalooza 2013! Stoked!

Tour of The Battenkill

Known as “America’s Toughest Race” it lived up to its name as expected. It rained in Cambridge, New York continuously for the four days leading up to the race. However, race day may have been cloudy but not too cold with a high of 55 and some sun (but not too much).

Both John K. and Colin (our Cat3s) had a rough day. Flats on Flats on Flats for the two of them. Then mustered up the power to go at it again and finished 48th (Colin) and 81st (John). Tough field, tough race, tough go at it. Still good work on the two of them to stay in it.

Colin raced in the criterium on Sunday. A very fast field that every finisher was within 1 second of the winner. Whoa.

Our 4s were all over the place in their field. True Stampede dominance. Sean, Doug, Kurt, and guest appearance by Jacob all took on the 4 field. Again, the team was snake-bitten. Sean’s helmet strap broke in the first dirt section and had to be tied off mid-race to actually work like a helmet. Kurt slipped and went down at the covered bridge and had to catch back on for the rest of the day.

Sean lead the attack up Juniper Swamp road and got himself into the breakaway that lasted for nearly 50 miles. But the group of 6 shattered at the last climb and Sean was able to muster a 5th place finish. Doug held in strong and had a field sprint at the end for a 14th place finish. Kurt rolled in 48th and Jacob in 51st. No worries though, this 4 field was faster that the cat3 field. Our dudes are FAST.

With that, we close the door on Tour of the Battenkill. Time to break out the Orontas and clean the mud off these bikes!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. We’ve been wicked busy designing new kits, and soon we’ll have a forrealz website to unveil.

anyway, you might’ve heard we have a pretty bitchin’ new sponsor this year: J.P. Licks! Seriously the best ice cream & froyo around. Plus their coffee & tea selection kicks ass. Needless to say, we’re stoked. And you can definitely expect team rides to either start or end at one of their locations.

When Chris decides to take on a new project…he REALLY takes it on. In this case, it was a “dream frame” of his so I knew he was gonna do it right. He has a certain patience and attention to detail that very few possess, and it pays off in spades with builds like this. Can’t wait to see this thing on the road!

One thing I love about Aaron and Co. over at Mosaic is that they are always staying on top of emerging technologies in the industry. Whether it be integrated seat posts, 44mm headtubes, or disc brakes for CX, the guys over at Mosaic have been right there leading the charge.

It seems that 2013 is slated to be the year of the disc-equipped road race machine and, while I’m not totally sold on the idea yet, I think we can all agree that this new “RT-1” model certainly looks the part. I think this is also the first ENVE disc ROAD fork I have seen…very cool to see them getting on board with the idea as well.

Kinda like disc brakes for CX, only time will tell if road discs are here to stay…
